LEARN MORE ABOUT BGU COURSES
The simple answer is anyone wanting to teach cheerleading and dance! You might be a university student, a dance teacher that would like to expand the classes you already teach, an athlete now wanting to coach, a school teacher, or even a parent of a cheerleading athlete who wants to get involved in this sport. You might already be a coach and now start a level 4 or 5 team. The one thing to remember is BGU is here to help you what ever your experience and courses are based around progressions.
The courses are run all over the country in venues suitably equipped. For the latest locations and dates please check the Course Dates
The course is a hands on training, supplemented by a comprehensive coaching manual. You will be assessed by our qualified BGU Instructor through observation of your coaching skills and interaction with athletes over the course and weekend. At the end of each day you will also sit a written exam (closed book) to test your knowledge of material taught that day. A combination of your test results and the instructors observations will determine the outcome. Sometimes the instructor may feel that you need further experience before being able to issue you with your BGU qualification. In this instance you will be asked to complete a number of supervised coaching hours with a qualified coach. Once signed off by this coach, you can submit videos for your reassessment. If our instructors are satisfied that you are coaching competently, you will then be issued with your certificate.
Following full participation within the BGU course, coaches are issued with a certificate of completion that is accepted by Hiscox Insurance Ltd and Perkins Slade Ltd for insurance coverage and proof of your coaching standard (Note:- age conditions apply to insurance).
Anyone sixteen years of age and above can attend and will be issued a certificate of passing, on successful completion of the course. Younger coaches fourteen years and above can also attend the course and take part in all aspects of the training, but will be supplied with a certificate of "attendance" until they reach sixteen years of age when a full certificate will then be issued. We would advise all coaches between the age of fourteen to sixteen years to contact us first, so we can help them with their booking:- email: email@example.com
The BGU qualification lasts for 3 years from the date of the course you attended. When your BGU qualification is due to expire you have a number of options:
• Attend another BGU level 1 & 2 course. We make sure that our BGU courses are giving you the most up to date information and coaching techniques so you will always benefit from attending the course again.
• Attend a BGU level 3 only or 3+course. If you feel that you are ready to progress and expand your teaching knowledge, you may chose to attend one of these courses rather than renewing your BGU level 1 & 2 again
Please note: You do not have to wait until your BGU qualification runs out before moving your skills up to the next levels and course. You can move up to the next levels at any time, as long as you have successfully completed Level 1 & 2
